Situation

The Mitford Estate is situated close to the A1 and thus enjoys good road communications to both the north and the south. Newcastle is only 15 miles away while Morpeth (2 miles) and Alnwick (19 miles) provide excellent local facilities.

Newcastle Airport is only 20 minutes from the Estate and offers regular domestic services to London together with other international destinations. Rail times from Newcastle to London are 2 hours 40 minutes and the City Centre is within easy commuting by car from Mitford.

The region offers many recreational facilities and these include hunting with the Morpeth, Percy and Tynedale; salmon fishing on the Coquet Tweed, North and South Tyne; grouse shooting on the Pennines, Cheviots and Lammermuirs; internationally famous wildlife reserves at Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands; together with historic castles and sites of interest at Alnwick, Morpeth, Bamburgh, Holy Island, Dunstanburgh as well as Mitford itself.

Directions

From Newcastle take the A1 North. After about 12 miles turn into Morpeth and continue through the town centre. Towards the Northern end turn left signposted the B6343 to Mitford. Passing underneath the A1, continue over the stone bridge, through Mitford village and after about 1/3 mile the Lodge gates will be found on the left.
